Admission to M. Tech.
Structural and earthquake safety of dams is a complex Civil Engineering problem, often not covered at undergraduate level curiculla. The Dam Safety Act, 2021 provides an institutional framework and technical guidance for Comprehensive Dam Safety Assessment and Risk Evaluation. The objective of the Program is to fulfill the knowledge gap in the understanding of earthquake behaviour and safety of dams. The program broadly covers:
- Earthquake behaviour of dam-foundation-reservoir system,
- Structural design of dams,
- Earthquake risk assessment of existing dams,
- Earthquake testing and retrofit of existing dams,
- Earthquake instrumentation of dams,
- International state-of-the-art-practices in the domain of structural and earthquake safety of dams.
